Recently, Qingdao Haixi Heavy-Duty Machinery Co., Ltd. (HHMC) and QTerminals (a joint venture established by Mwani Qatar and Milaha) signed a purchase contract on three sets of 80t-68m Ship to Shore Container Crane and 12 sets of 40t Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane, marking another great achievement of HHMC in actively integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative and vigorously promoting international operation. It is a significant milestone for the market exploitation and development of HHMC in the Middle East.

The equipment will be used at the new Hamad Port, Qatar, which was built in 2010 and put into operation in 2017, with a project investment of 7.4 billion US dollars. It is the largest port in Qatar and one of the largest ports in the Middle East. The new Hamad Port is a world-class commercial port built by Qatar. As an important part of Qatar’s “2030 National Vision”, the port is planned to be the largest “greenfield” port in the world. After the equipment is put into operation, it will greatly enhance the loading and unloading capacity of the terminal and further promote the development of Qatar's foreign trade and local economy.

A number of well-known port machinery manufacturers around the world participated in the bidding of the project. The entire bid evaluation process lasted for three months, during which the Owner firstly evaluated the bidders' qualifications and credits, capabilities and bid proposals, and then organized site visits, technical exchanges and product visits. The Owner especially visited the automated yard built by HHMC for Rizhao Port. After comprehensive evaluation of the technical, manufacturing and service capabilities and economic benefits of various manufacturers, HHMC was finally selected as the equipment supplier.
